How to play Klondike Solitaire
Choose a round of Klondike Solitaire and settle into its rules. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Look at what changes after your first action. Read the objective before making your first input. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.
One deck; draw-one or draw-three stock; waste recycling. Free solo play, no wagering.
Build a steady rhythm
Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Keep the objective visible.
Your goal
Build four suit foundations from ace to king. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Notice how the game responds to your input.
Step by step
- Build down in alternating colours; kings fill empty columns. Valid ordered runs move together.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
Controls
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use the control method described here for this activity. A new-round button replaces the current round.
A useful example
A red 6 fits a black 7, not another red 7. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Choose a deliberate next step.
Watch out for this
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
