How to play Dominoes

Dominoes gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Use the example below to understand a decision. Begin with the local players mode shown on the page. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

Make the controls familiar

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Check the rules when you are unsure.

Step by step

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Use one clear input at a time.

A useful example

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.

Watch out for this

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Compare the situation with the worked example. Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules.
